The Department of Arabic Language and Literature at the College of Arts – Mutah University held a special celebration in honor of Arabic Language Day, under the patronage of Dr. Amin Aql, Vice President for Academic Affairs, representing the University President. The event brought together a distinguished group of academics, faculty members, and students.

Dean of the College, Dr. Rania Al-Aqarbeh, opened the event with a welcoming speech, emphasizing that Arabic lies at the heart of cultural and civilizational identity. She highlighted the essential role of universities and research in preserving and promoting the language.

The celebration featured a series of insightful talks. Dr. Rabia Al-Majali, Head of the Arabic Department, spoke about the department’s efforts to strengthen the role of Arabic in academic and cultural life. Dr. Fayez Al-Qaisi reflected on the pivotal role of women in enriching the Arabic language, showcasing their historical contributions to literature, poetry, and intellectual thought. Dr. Ibrahim Al-Baoul discussed the expressive power and adaptability of Arabic compared to other languages, noting its unique ability to embrace scientific and cultural advancements.

Dr. Reem Al-Marayat explored Arabic’s openness to other languages, explaining how it has become a language of inclusion and cultural expression. She shared poetic examples that captured the language’s depth and brilliance in expressing emotion.

The event also included a moving poetry recital that showcased the beauty of Arabic and left a deep impression on the audience. A heartfelt tribute was paid to the late Dr. Ahmad Al-Zoubi, one of the department’s most esteemed faculty members, honoring his academic legacy and dedication to advancing Arabic language and literature.

The celebration concluded with a call to action: to preserve and promote the Arabic language amid today’s challenges, and to continue efforts to elevate its status as a language of knowledge, culture, and humanity.
