On July 26, 2022, representing the University President, Dr. Arafat Awajan, his deputy for Research, Development, and International Relations, Dr. Marwan Al-Mousa, sponsored the events of the Modern Linguistics Symposium organized by the Department of English Language and Literature. The symposium was attended by a group of specialized professors and researchers from Jordanian universities.
Various specialized scientific papers were presented and discussed during the symposium. The symposium comes within the College of Arts' keenness, especially and Mutah University generally, to keep pace with and follow up on all that is new in the sciences and humanities, according to the Dean of the College of Arts, Dr. Mohammad Al-Matalqah.
Al-Mousa welcomed the participants, praising the collaboration of the participating universities with Mutah University, emphasizing that everyone is a partner in serving the scientific process, achieving visions, and aspirations aimed at enhancing students' knowledge and skills, especially since Jordanian universities include significant scientific competencies, as he described them.
Al-Matalqah discussed the possibility of expanding the symposium's work to become a periodic symposium covering other languages. He added that the symposium could lead to the formation of a research team that contributes to enhancing cooperation and research efforts aimed at expanding the circle of benefit. Al-Matalqah also spoke about the activities of the College of Arts and its philosophy based on opening horizons for positive cooperation with all parties of mutual interest.
In turn, the Dean of Scientific Research, Dr. Abdullah Al-Adinat, provided a summary of the activities of the Deanery of Scientific Research related to supporting joint research projects, especially the establishment of research teams from various faculties. He also announced the holding of a forum for these teams next month at Mutah University.
